bio
Paulo Amendoeira is a Portuguese percussionist, performer, and improviser based in Bern, with an education in classical contemporary percussion. His artistic practice encompasses an ongoing research on noise as material and post-instrumentalism practice, thus expanding the sound and expression spectrum of his array of instruments.
Paulo works in collective and transdisciplinary environments, being his most recent projects |klang.data|, side proYect and ruído blanco. He is a member of Concrète [Lab] Ensemble and Cigarra Associação Cultural and maintains ongoing and close collaborations with composers such as Michael Maierhof, Ilona Perger and Jorge Villoslada Durán.
After graduating from the Lisbon School of Music in 2023, where he studied with Pedro Carneiro, Paulo is currently a MA Performance student at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. He studies with Brian Archinal and also takes lessons with Antoine Françoise and Marc Unternährer.
